Our Core Bloom Roots

As we grow and expand, it is vital to our community to hone in on these foundational values. If we can create a clear foundation it will create stability for our community as we grow. We ask all participants to join us in the respectful & intentional upholding of our Bloom Roots that contribute to the ethos and existence of Bloom

Root1:: Radical Equity and Inclusion

Bloom is a femme-powered intentional community dedicated to creating a festival that celebrates and uplifts BIPOC and LGBTQQIP2SAA** voices. We are committed to providing opportunities for local talent to shine and share their artistry.

Guided by an anti-oppressive framework, we aim for radical equity and inclusion. Bloom values building meaningful and reciprocal relationships with marginalized and underrepresented communities in the music industry, recognizing this as essential to the heart of our event.

Root 2 :: Radical Harmony (Between self, Community & Earth)

Bloom believes in the power of individuals to shape our community thoughtfully and intentionally. We aim to create a space where understanding and curiosity are prioritized over conflict.

We encourage all attendees to be mindful of the space they occupy and the privilege they carry. We invite you to reflect on the following questions: “What is my influence on others? How might my actions affect the greater community?"

We also ask everyone to take responsibility for their impact on the land, practicing radical harmony between ourselves and the environment. How can we show respect for the land and peacefully coexist with its inhabitants? What is our responsibility towards the land we are on? (See Root #5: Sustainability)

Root 3 :: Justice (It’s not just a Concept, It’s an Action)

Bloom acknowledges that our festival is held on the traditional territories of the Anishinabewaki, Wendake-Nionwentsio, Mississagua, and Haudenosaunee people. We understand that reconciliation is an ongoing journey and that we are settlers on this land. We recognize the continued colonization of Indigenous communities worldwide and stand in solidarity with all who are affected by its impacts.

Bloom recognizes that we are all complicit in this and ask ourselves, how do we find equitable ways of being on this land and building community together? We invite everyone to reflect on our shared responsibility and to consider how we can foster equitable ways of living and building community on this land.

What can you contribute? We encourage our community to think about actionable steps we can all take to create a more equitable world.

Root 4 :: Protective Spaces and Harm Reduction

Consent is a cornerstone of our community. Bloom encourages everyone to take responsibility for the environment we are co-creating. If you see someone who needs help or notice a situation that seems uncomfortable, please reach out to any crew member or security personnel.

Bloom is dedicated to creating safer spaces for marginalized communities, and strives to build a safer space where folks can learn and share with each other without fear of stigmatization, harassment or judgment.

At Bloom, we believe that harm reduction is a form of community care. This means fostering an environment where access to education, supplies, supportive actions, policies, and relationships is normalized to help reduce risk.

Root 5 :: Sustainability

Bloom is a leave-no-trace event, and we kindly ask attendees to always be mindful of their impact on the land.

We recognize that we share this space with many other forms of life, and we aim to support and enrich the surrounding nature for future generations. We ask everyone to walk gently on this land.

Bloom encourages environmental stewardship, which means caring for and protecting the land, regardless of ownership. We promote the protection of the natural environment through sustainable actions and conservation, a responsibility shared by all who interact with this space.

Root 6 :: Play

Bloom invites you to embrace your inner child, play, and have fun—after all, what is a festival but a playground for your senses? Engage with interactive art, dance like no one's watching, and express yourself through your outfit and style. Enjoy it!

Embrace playfulness, flow, and connection, creating special shared experiences. Remember to respect the boundaries of others and be mindful of the space you occupy and its impact on those around you. Always be respectful of others, yourself, and the land.
